About Mooncottage
Mooncottage is a labor of creativity and love. A luxury villa rental with over 7 years of design and construction that went into shaping its beautiful and unique Asian-Caribbean villa design. Over 25 top craftsmen from all over the Caribbean participated in its completion. The process started as a steep morning hike with a dull machete up through the dense and overgrown terrain and ended with a climb up a large Mampoo tree--the one growing through your roof at Mooncottage. I call him our ‘Spirit Tree.’ When I was looking for the ideal place to build and climbed him years ago to see what the view was like—I nearly fell out of the tree with the sight. We have made virtually every contractor crazy by trying to build a large scale luxury villa rental property around it .... as this is not something that most luxury villa rentals' owners would even consider doing—but we did because we think we owe him a lot. Give him pat on the bark as you pass under—he will smile at you.
This luxury Caribbean cottage was built on an ancient hillside known today as Calabash Boom and ancient trails crisscross the area. The Calabash Tree they say used to flourish here and bears a large fruit. On this steep hill when the Calabash fruit falls to the ground it goes BOOM!
